1. Acceptance
By placing an order on hearthstoneiron.com, you confirm that you've read these terms and agree to them. If you don't agree, please don't place an order. If anything below is unclear, email [email protected] before checking out and we'll explain.
2. Who we are
Hearthstone Iron Co. is a private company registered in Ohio, address 2840 W. 25th Street, Cleveland, OH 44113. We sell a single product — a hand-poured cast iron skillet — in three sizes, directly to consumers, through this website only. We have no retail partners. If you see our pan being sold somewhere else, please let us know.
3. Pricing and product information
Prices listed on the site are in U.S. dollars and include any applicable inclusive taxes for U.S. residents. Sales tax (where applicable) is calculated at checkout based on your shipping address. We try to keep product photos, dimensions, and weights accurate, but because each pan is hand-poured there is a small batch-to-batch variation — a finished 12″ skillet may measure 11.94″ to 12.06″ across the cooking surface and weigh 6.4 to 6.8 lbs. Promotional pricing may end without prior notice.
Occasionally a typo means a pan is listed for less than we intend to sell it. If we catch the error before shipping, we'll email you and offer either a refund of your full payment or a chance to pay the difference. We do not silently bill you more than the price you saw at checkout, ever.
4. Order acceptance
Your checkout submission is an offer to buy. We accept the offer when we send you the order confirmation email. Until that email lands, we have not entered into a contract with you and we reserve the right to refuse any order — for example if a pan is sold out, if the billing and shipping addresses don't match in a way that suggests fraud, or if your account history shows excessive returns. We will issue a full refund in any case where we refuse.
5. Payment
We accept all major U.S.-issued credit cards through our payment processor. Payments are charged at the moment the order is placed, not at shipment. If your card is declined, the order is canceled — we will not retry the charge.
6. Shipping
Free ground shipping in the contiguous 48 states. Orders typically ship within 2 business days of receipt and arrive 5 to 7 business days later. Alaska, Hawaii, and APO/FPO addresses are available; surcharge applied at checkout. We ship internationally to Canada, the UK, and the EU on request — email us for a quote before ordering. Risk of loss transfers to you when the carrier marks the package as delivered. If your tracking shows delivered but you don't have the pan, please contact us within 7 days and we'll work with the carrier to resolve.
7. The 60-day at-home trial
If you don't love the pan, you can return it for a full refund within 60 days of delivery. The pan can be seasoned, cooked-on, scratched, or showing wear — that's fine. We'd rather it be in your kitchen than on a shelf in Cleveland. We pay return shipping inside the lower 48; international customers cover the return freight. Refunds land on the original payment method within 5 business days of us receiving the pan.
The trial is once per household; if you've returned a pan to us before and then order again, the second order is final.
8. The 25-year warranty
Every pan is covered by a 25-year warranty against (a) warping that affects flat-bottom contact on a smooth cooktop, (b) cracking or breaking in normal home use, and (c) any manufacturing defect including pitting, casting voids, or handle separation. The warranty is from the date of original purchase and applies only to the first owner. To claim, email [email protected] with your order number and a photo of the issue. If we agree the pan failed under warranty, we replace it free, including return shipping.
What the warranty does not cover
- Seasoning issues. Seasoning is a coating that you build, maintain, and can always rebuild. It is normal for it to wear, flake, or scorch — this is not a defect and we don't replace pans because the seasoning has worn off. Our care guide explains how to re-season at home.
- Commercial use. The pan is built for home kitchens. If you use it in a restaurant or commercial kitchen, the warranty is voided.
- Damage from misuse. Dropping the pan on a hard floor, putting it in a dishwasher, using it as a hammer, leaving it submerged in water for days — none of these are covered.
- Cosmetic surface marks. Cast iron darkens with use, develops minor scratches from utensils, and may pit slightly over decades. This is the patina of a working pan, not a defect.
9. Acceptable use of the website
You may not (a) attempt to access any non-public area of the site, (b) interfere with the operation of the site, (c) use any automated scraper or bot to harvest content or pricing, or (d) submit fake orders or test-card transactions. All site content — photographs, product descriptions, the brand name, the logo — is copyright Hearthstone Iron Co. and may not be reused without our written permission.
10. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent allowed by law, our total liability to you for any claim arising out of or in connection with your purchase is limited to the amount you paid for the products in question. We are not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages — for example, a meal that didn't come out the way you wanted because of an issue with the pan. Nothing in these terms limits any liability that cannot be limited under applicable consumer protection law.
11. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Ohio, without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules. Any dispute that can't be resolved through good-faith conversation will be submitted to binding arbitration in Cuyahoga County, Ohio, except that either party may bring a small-claims action in any court of competent jurisdiction. You retain all rights you have as a consumer under your home state or country's law; nothing here waives those.
12. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms occasionally to reflect changes in our business or in the law. We post the updated version here with a new "Last updated" date. Changes apply to orders placed after the update — orders already in flight are governed by the terms in force when you checked out.
